Daniel’s Queued Movies

  1. 001- Sukiyaki Western Django -
In a strange land where East meets West, two rival gangs -- the Heike Reds and the Genji Whites -- are locked in a deadly feud over a fortune in gold until a lone hero (Hideaki Ito) comes to town, meets the gangs' various victims and tries to restore order. Director Quentin Tarantino guest stars as a gunslinger in this visually stunning spaghetti Western from Japanese cult film director Takashi Miike.
  2. 002- Salò -
This deeply disturbing movie updates a work by the Marquis de Sade and portrays the fate of 18 Italian youths who are kidnapped by Nazis. Held in a remote palace, they must endure endless sexual and other humiliations and are then sentenced to die. Pier Palo Pasolini directs this provocative film, which stars Paolo Bonacelli and Giorgio Cataldi. This movie includes intensely graphic material.
  3. 003- Elephant -
Indie writer-director Gus Van Sant helms this unnerving tale about high school violence that unfolds on an ordinary school day, inside a typical American high school filled with the usual goings-on -- schoolwork, football, gossip and peer pressure. For each of the students we meet, high school is a different experience: alternately stimulating, friendly, traumatic, lonely or just plain hard. Timothy Bottoms co-stars.
  4. 004- Walk the Line -
This critically acclaimed biopic distills country singer Johnny Cash's (Joaquin Phoenix, in an Academy Award-nominated role) transformation from man to icon -- from his hardscrabble days on an Arkansas farm to his time inside Memphis's Sun Studios, where he finally found a voice for his talents. Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar for her portrayal of Cash's beloved wife, June, alongside co-stars Robert Patrick and Shelby Lynne.
  5. 005- Leatherheads -
Hard-nosed sports reporter Lexie Littleton (Renée Zellweger) finds herself at the center of an acute 1920s love triangle when an aging football hero (George Clooney) and a rising college star (John Krasinski of "The Office") go head to head to compete for her affections. Clooney also wrote and directed this romantic comedy with vintage flair, set at the dawn of professional football history.
